NOMINATIONS

Nominations are now closed for the 2021 Pillar Community Innovation Awards and will open again next April for next year's event.

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Any nonprofit, charity, individual, business, social enterprise, education or government sector organization in the London, Elgin, Oxford and Middlesex regions whose work relates to positive community impact, is eligible for nomination.

Outstanding individuals, organizations, enterprises or collaborations that meet this criteria and have demonstrated dedication, creative solutions and/or a collaborative spirit working towards positive community impact are good candidates for the Pillar Community Innovation Awards.

Community Innovation Award

COMMUNITY INNOVATION

Nominees for the Community Innovation Award have recognized new and better ways to address a need in the community despite the many demands, and sometimes too few resources. Nominees have found innovative, creative and efficient solutions to make a difference in the lives of others. Their innovative efforts have had a positive impact on the community.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

Nominees for the Community Impact Award recognize new and better ways to address a need in the community despite the many demands, and sometimes too few resources available. Their efforts have a positive and meaningful impact on the broader community, resulting in clear and measurable change. Nominees in this category demonstrate a commitment to building relationships and collaborating meaningfully with the individuals and communities they serve. They have changed the culture of their organization or worked towards shifting systems by listening to the voices in their community and involving them in solutions and/or processes.

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP

Nominees for the Community Leadership Award stand out because of their exceptional professional and/or volunteer achievements in the community, which are above and beyond their role in a paid position. Their integrity, dedication, ingenuity and leadership are undeniable throughout their notable contribution to a nonprofit and/or not for profit social enterprise. These nominees embody the spirit of the community and, through their actions and accomplishments, are an inspiration to others.


 
Collaboration

COMMUNITY COLLABORATION

Nominees for the Community Collaboration Award provide outstanding examples of collaboration within their communities. These nominees recognize the benefits that come from accessing resources and expertise of individuals, local businesses, government, nonprofits or charities for positive community impact. Through the synergy that comes with community collaboration, the nominees have facilitated increased sustainability, efficiency, impact and innovation in the service they provide to their community. One collaborative partner must be from a nonprofit organization or nonprofit social enterprise.

COMMUNITY CHOICE

Once the finalists are confirmed and announced, the Community Choice Award recipient will be determined by online community vote.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

+ Who is not eligible to be nominated or submit a nomination?

  • Only one nomination package per nominee will be accepted. Past award recipients are not eligible for resubmission within a 3-year period.

  • Platinum, Award and Gold level sponsors of the Pillar Community Innovation Awards may not be nominated or submit a nomination.

  • No staff or board member of Pillar Nonprofit Network or their immediate families are eligible to be nominated or submit a nomination.

  • No Pillar Community Innovation Awards Committee volunteer may be nominated or submit a nomination.

  • An employee of an organization cannot nominate their organization or initiative as a whole but a board member can.

+ Common nomination scenario questions

  • Can an organization nominate a particular volunteer or group of volunteers that is working to support their organization? Yes
  • Can a volunteer for an organization nominate that organization, and/or a particular person from that organization? Yes
  • Can a staff member of an organization nominate another staff member of the same organization? Yes
  • Can one volunteer from an organization nominate another volunteer? Yes
  • Can a contracted consultant of an organization nominate the organization as a whole? Yes
  • Can I nominate a member of my family? Yes

+ Does the nominee need to know that they are being nominated?

Yes, all nominees need to consent to the conditions of the award program.

+ What happens if you are selected as a finalist?

  • Invitation to a Finalist announcement and media launch in August

  • Finalists will be offered storytelling coaching via phone, meeting, or workshop preceding video shoot

  • Finalists will be required to participate in a short video that will be shown the night of the Pillar Community Innovation Awards

  • Invitation to attend the awards celebration and VIP reception on November 18, 2021

+ What will the award recipients receive?

  • A $2000 gift to direct to the award recipient’s registered charity of choice

  • An engraved award

  • Name engraved on a perpetual plaque in the Hudson’s Bay Passageway in the Central Library

  • Media coverage and community exposure which helps to amplify their message and gain support of their cause
